Who are we?

The Laboratory is managed by Barbara Simonsen, Deborah Vlaeymans, Isabelle Reynaud and Jesper de Neergaard. In addition, we have The Council; a group of experienced people within theatre arts and humanities. The Council supplies ideas, input and feedback on the activities, thus outlining the course and the profile of the Laboratory’s work. Barbara Simonsen -------------------------------------------------------------->
Artistic Director

Born 1967 in Aalborg, half Danish, and half Faroese. Master of Arts in Comparative Literature and Dramaturgy; freelance director and dramaturge since 1994. Founder of The Other Theatre (Det Andet Teater) 2004. Initiator of the Laboratory. Responsibilities: management, strategies, conceptual development, experiments, process analysis and leftover tasks no one else wanted!

Deborah Vlaeymans ------------------------------------------------------------>
Project and Information Manager

Born 1975 in Belgium. Master of Arts in Dramaturgy and Philosophy. Conceptual developer and producer. The Laboratory’s production and conference manager as well as computer wiz and dramaturge with a soft spot for interdisciplinary performance and concert dramaturgy.

 

Isabelle Reynaud ---------------------------------------------------------------->
Project Manager

Born 1964 in Germany. Director (since 1990), innovator, project manager, film director, founder of Theatre C (Teater C). Isabelle has been a part of the Laboratory’s management from the onset in 2005. Areas of responsibility includes: Manager of experiments, process analysis, and development of international collaborations.

 

 

Jesper de Neergaard ----------------------------------------------------------->
Artistic Consultant

Artistic Director of Entré Scenen and director. As a natural part of the Laboratory’s management, Jesper provides artistic and strategic input and regularly demonstrates his special ability for pep talks in times of need. Specialities: consciousness of methods and new visions.

At the moment, The Council consists of:

• Janek Szatkowski
  Senior Lecturer at the Institute of Aesthetics, department of Dramaturgy in Aarhus. Former director of dramatist education at Aarhus Theatre.
• Erik Exe Christoffersen
  Senior Lecturer at the Institute of Aesthetics, department of Aesthetics and Culture and department of Dramaturgy. Cofounder of CTLS (Centre for Theatre Laboratory Studies) – a collaboration between Nordic Theatre Laboratory/The Odin Theatre and department of Dramaturgy at Aarhus University.
• Klaus Hoffmeyer
  Director at Odense Theatre. Former head of acting at The Royal Theatre.
• Rolf Alme
  Set-designer, former dean of the Academy of Stage Art (Akademi for Scenekunst), Norway
• Kim Eden
  Theatre Producer, former manager of the New Danish Dancing Theatre(Nyt Dansk Danseteater), former manager of the performance company Tin Box.
